Obituary for Webster Carmack


Webster James “Jim” Carmack, 64, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Jim was born May 22, 1953 the son of Donald and Carletta (Harden) Carmack in Lakin, Kansas. He is also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his adopted son, Jason Carmack (Shelley) of Perry, Iowa; longtime companion, Joyce Polaski of La Plata, Missouri; a brother, Paul Carmack of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota; sister’s, Kay “Charlie” Devitt of Canyon Lake, Texas, Donna Spruill and husband Gilbert of Chesapeake, Virginia; two grandsons, Robert Carmack of La Plata, Missouri, Harley Carmack of Kirksville, Missouri; two granddaughters, Alexandria Carmack of La Plata, Missouri, McKayla Walker of La Plata, Missouri; one great-grandson, Jeremiah Carmack along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was a man that loved to hunt he especially enjoyed teaching and sharing hunting time with his grandsons. He spent 20 plus years as a volunteer firefighter for the city of La Plata. He enjoyed helping others and devoted several years of his adult life caring for his mother and being her chauffeur. Jim also enjoyed his time helping at the “Farm in Adair” where he enjoyed helping all those out mudding.

Jim’s wishes were for organ donation, followed by cremation. A family memorial service is planned for a later date. Several years ago, Jim’s mother's vision was restored with the gift of Saving Sight. Jim was thankful for this and made the decision for himself to give back by being an organ donor.
